Old beds have a way of making an otherwise nice home look tired. Overgrown, mulch-faded, no real definition - it all adds up. That's exactly the situation we walked into here, and we knew a full garden bed refresh was the right call.

We pulled everything out and started fresh. The old material was gone, new plants went in, and we filled the beds with black slate rock. That rock is a game-changer for low-maintenance landscaping. It doesn't break down like mulch, it doesn't wash away easily, and it holds its color. You're not out there refreshing it every spring.

The brick-and-cap edging is what ties the whole thing together. It creates a clean separation between the lawn and the beds - no blurry lines, no grass creeping in. The gentle curves we built into the edging layout give it a finished, intentional look that complements the brick on the home really well.

We also extended the stonework treatment around the side of the house, keeping that same clean edging and slate rock running consistently throughout. Even the mailbox bed got the full treatment. Details like that are what make a yard look pulled together instead of pieced together.

The end result is a front yard that looks sharp without demanding constant attention. Less time maintaining, more curb appeal. That's the kind of landscaping design and installation work we love doing.
