A lot of homeowners want curb appeal but don't want to spend every weekend maintaining it. Mulch beds look great for a few weeks and then they fade, wash out, and need to be replaced. Creek rock is a different story - it stays put, it looks clean, and it holds up no matter what the weather throws at it.

Here's what we did at this Liberty Township home. We installed creek rock throughout the front and side beds, laid a clean stone border to separate the beds from the lawn, and planted fresh shrubs and trees to give the whole space some structure and life. The Japanese maple near the front porch is a great example - it adds color and character without demanding a lot of attention.

The stone border is one of those details that really ties everything together. It gives the beds a defined edge, keeps the gravel where it belongs, and makes the lawn line look intentional rather than just wherever the grass decided to stop growing. It's a small thing that makes a big visual difference.

What we ended up with is a front yard that looks polished and put-together. The creek rock handles drainage naturally, the plants are chosen to fill in without getting out of hand, and the whole setup genuinely requires very little upkeep going forward. That's the goal - something that looks good on day one and keeps looking good without constant intervention.

This kind of work - decorative stone installation, fresh plant and shrub placement, clean stonework edging - is exactly what we do. If your beds are looking tired or you've been thinking about ditching the mulch for something more durable, creek rock is worth a serious look.
