Most front yards don't have a glaring problem - they just look a little unfinished. Beds bleed into the lawn, mulch creeps out after every rain, and no matter how much you plant or trim, something still feels off. Nine times out of ten, it comes down to edging.
That's exactly what we tackled at this Fairfield home. We installed raised landscape curbing along the front beds and around a large tree bed in the side yard. The curved lines follow the natural flow of the yard instead of forcing hard 90-degree angles that would look stiff against this brick ranch. It gives the whole property a much cleaner, more intentional look.
Here's something a lot of people don't think about - good edging isn't just cosmetic. That raised border keeps mulch right where it belongs, even after heavy rain. It also creates a physical separation between the turf and the bed, which means less creeping grass to pull and less maintenance overall. It's one of those upgrades that actually makes your yard easier to take care of long-term.
We paired the edging work with fresh dark mulch in the beds, which really makes the greenery pop and helps retain moisture through the warmer months. The contrast between the tan stone curbing, dark mulch, and lush lawn ties the whole look together without anything feeling overdone or busy.
A yard this well-kept deserves details that match. Clean edging is one of the simplest ways to get there - and it holds up season after season with almost no upkeep on your end.
