When a yard has a grade change that's working against the property - shifting soil, erosion, no usable space - a retaining wall is the right fix. Not just for looks, but for long-term structural support. That's exactly what we were dealing with here in Centerville.

We built this wall using segmental concrete block, which is one of the most reliable materials you can use for a project like this. The interlocking design means the wall works as a system, not just a stack of blocks. Each course is set with purpose, and the result is a wall that handles lateral soil pressure without budging.

One thing that separates a wall that lasts from one that doesn't - drainage. You can see the crushed white gravel base and the landscape fabric working together to manage water behind the wall. Without proper drainage, hydrostatic pressure builds up and walls fail. We don't skip that step.

The whole setup here - compact excavator on site, crew working the job together, proper drainage layer in place - that's what good hardscape work looks like before the landscaping goes in and covers everything up. The bones have to be right.

A wall like this gives the property a defined edge, creates usable grade on the upper level, and holds everything in place for years to come. If your yard needs that kind of structure, this is the kind of work we do.
